Wife skills

Now that I’m antisocial single, I’ve found myself with some additional time on my hands.

I mean, remember the pie charts?

In a relationship:

Not only do these pie charts graphically demonstrate my need for new hobbies to fill my free time, but they also demonstrate that I have SO much free time that I have time to make pie charts. I promise I went to school to learn to write pretty sentences. That was not one of them. Too late now. Already typed it.

Lately I’ve been attempting to learn how to cook–or as one coworker referred to it: “working on my wife skills.”

In the past few weeks I’ve done several things in the kitchen that I’ve never attempted to do before, including:

  • fry bacon
  • roast garlic
  • make various baked good batter from scratch
  • make my own icing
  • clean a whole chicken
  • roast a chicken
  • make my own mashed potatoes

Here are some recipes I’ve dabbled with:

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies:

Sweet and Sour Brussels Sprouts:

Peanut Butter Bacon Blondies:

Roasted Garlic Gorgonzola Smashed Potatoes:

(All images come from the author of the recipe.)

So yep. Some day maybe I’ll make a good wife. Or maybe I’ll make a good fattie because I now know how to make more than just smoothies. We’ll see.

Oh my god, how delicious do all of those sound? Very delicious. (Did I just answer my own question? Who does that?) Anywho, I’m impressed by your skills. I can’t cook for crap except for maybe chicken chunks. I can bake, but cooking? No.
I want one of those peanut butter bacon blondies. YUM.
