The one where I have birth control in my refridgerator
November 9th, 2010Today, we’re going to talk about something a little uncomfortable.
That’s right, birth control.
When I was 16, I went on birth control to regulate my period. I’ve been on it ever since.
But let’s be honest, I’m not great at taking a pill at the same time every day.
So when I went for my annual crotch doc appointment, I decided to give NuvaRing a try.
My lady doctor gave me 3 samples, and told me to store the two I’m not using right away in the fridge. Gross. They are currently under the butter. lol
I used an empty tampon applicator to help me insert the ring. I’ll admit, getting it up there was a little painful. Right now it feels fine.
As far as side effects go, I’m pleased to report that my boobs are a little bigger! I’ve been waiting for a BC that could do that for me. I also think I’ve lost a little weight, and I’m experiencing a couple extra pimples.
I absolutely love not having to take a pill every day. I know it seems like it’s not that big of a deal, but when you’ve been on it for 5 years, it gets kind of annoying. Especially when you have to whip out your “slut pills” in public.
In other news, yesterday I ran to Frick Park for my workout and found the fitness course, which has different little exercise stations on the side, like pushup bars, chin up bars, and balance beams. It was pretty sweet.
Have a great day kids,
Lexie

I use the Nuva too & I LOVE it. It’s SOOO much better than the pill!!
I just put it in my phone when I need to take it out, or put a new one in.
And I don’t have any crazy mood swings like I did with the pill.
It rocks :)
Hope all is well!! Miss you so much!

I use the pill, but I am terrible at remembering it as well!
Has anyone asked why you have birth control in the fridge?
Frick Park is a pretty cool name for a park.
LOL, Nice tutorial pic
So, you don’t have to actually store it in the fridge as long as its not about 70 degrees somewhere. My mom (health professional) told me not to worry if I can’t when I’m traveling or whatever. The only time I do is when its expiration date is close. It doesn’t mess with the effectiveness at all, plus, I live with all guys… and I didn’t really want to have that discussion lol
Hmmm.. I’m sure my bf would accidentally eat those if I had them in our fridge :D :D I’ve been on pill for…. 10 years now and somehow cannot imagine being without, I’ve been offered band aids and other birth control stuff too but have not felt comfortable changing :D
and yeah, cool tutorial pic! HA.
I was on the Birth Control Merry-Go-Round until I found one that did not make me a crazy bitch, break out in pizza face, or have little mid-pack “red flags.” But I actually am consiering Nuva-Ring, just because I dislike all the hormone finagling of the pill.
Out of curiosity, how often do you have to replace it?
